Yet, there are mixed results to support the benefits of quercetin. With some conditions studied in test tubes or animals. Here’s how the research comes out:

  • High Blood Pressure- a 2016 review, quercetin found can lessen diastolic blood pressure. Also a systolic. Particularly in diabetics who were given at least 500mg per day.  Though, it’s not clear the exact dosage and duration to see the most benefits.
  • Athletic Endurance- according to a 2011 review of quercetin may be no better than a placebo. Another study in 2013 analyzing 60 male students who’ve joined athletics. For at least 3 years saw better lean body mass and basal metabolic rate. Total body water and total energy expenditure after taking quercetin. 
  • Allergy Relief- quercetin is believed to prevent the release of histamine. An inflammatory chemical in allergic symptoms such as sneezing. Researchers suggest further studies on humans to show a correlation.
  • Cancer- a cell culture study has manifest that quercetin may help slow the growth of some type of cancer cells. Some animal-based studies specify that quercetin may protect against certain types of cancer. 

But, since a lack of human studies on quercetin’s cancer-fighting effects. It’s too early to tell whether quercetin might play an important role in cancer prevention.
